Q: What are Clear Sky Accounts?
A: Clear Sky Accounts are totally paperless and completely online. That means more competitive rates on FDIC-insured savings and checking accounts than you would find at a bank that only has traditional branches. Clear Sky Accounts are a product of Chesapeake Bank, which has been serving customers since 1900.

Q: How do I know my money is secure?
A: Clear Sky Accounts are backed by the strength and stability of Chesapeake Bank, a “well-capitalized” bank according to federal regulations. In 2013, it was named #17 in the nation among community banks by American Banker. In addition, all Clear Sky Accounts are FDIC-insured to a maximum of $250,000 per depositor. FDIC number 6862. Q: How do I open a Clear Sky Account?
A: It's easy to complete and submit your application online. Just click on Apply. The whole process takes only 15 minutes for new Clear Sky customers and 5 minutes for existing Clear Sky customers. You'll need the following:
  • Social Security Number for each applicant
  • State-issued driver's license or ID card, passport or military ID 
  • Address information 
  • Access to a valid email account 
  • Primary applicant must be 18 years or older. Joint applicant must be at least 14 years of age.
Q: How do I make deposits to my account?
A: Once your application has been approved, you may fund your account as follows:
  • Transfer money from an existing Chesapeake Bank or Clear Sky account. 
  • Initiate a bank-to-bank transfer through your online banking account. You may transfer from any US bank. Instructions provided in your welcome email. 
  • Mail a check to: 1229 Lafayette Street, Attn: Clear Sky Accounts, Williamsburg, VA 23185 
  • Make a deposit at any Chesapeake Bank branch. 
Q: How can I take money out of my account?
A: Withdraw money from your Clear Sky Checking:
  •  Use your VISA® CheckCard at any ATM.
  •  Initiate a bank-to-bank transfer through Online Banking. 
  •  Pay bills using Online Banking Bill Pay. 
A: Withdraw money from your Clear Sky Savings:
  • Initiate a bank-to-bank transfer through Online Banking. 
  • If you have both Clear Sky Checking and Clear Sky Savings, and have linked your Clear Sky Savings account to your VISA® CheckCard, savings withdrawals can be made at any ATM.
Q: What is my Clear Sky routing number?
A: The Clear Sky routing number is 051403779.

Q: How do I access online banking from my mobile phone?
A: Simply download our Chesbank app and begin banking from your smartphone right away. For other ways to access your account on the go, please see our Mobile Banking page.

Q: Can I change my Online Banking ID or password?
A: Yes. Your online banking ID and password can be changed at any time. Log in to Online Banking and go to the Options tab. Make your changes and select Submit. Your new ID and/or password will be in effect the next time you log in.
*A security feature of Online Banking requires that you change your password annually.

Q: Do I need my token every time I login to Online Banking?
A: Yes. Clear Sky Accounts require this authentication along with your Online Banking ID and password. At account opening we will issue you a physical device or you may opt for a mobile Smartphone app. Either way, the token code must be entered every time you log in.

Q: What are my daily limits on my Clear Sky account?
A: One transfer, either outbound or inbound, is allowed each day. 
ACH limits:
  • $50,000 outbound
  • $75,000 inbound 
  • POS - Debit Card: $2500 per day
  • ATM - $300 per day
Q: Why is my actual rate on my statement different than the stated Clear Sky interest rate?
A: Clear Sky checking and savings account rates are tiered. You will earn the stated interest rate for the amount of money you have in each tier. That rate appears as a blended actual rate on your statement.
